Passive listening- When a listener tries to make sense out of speaker's remarks without being able to interact with the speaker.
-Example: Student hearing an instructor's lecture without having the opportunity to ask questions or otherwise interact with the speaker.

Self-serving bias- When others suffer, we blame the problem on their personal qualities. When we suffer, we blame the problem on forces outside ourselves.
-Example: When he lashes out angrily, we say he's being moody; when we lash out angrily, it's because of the pressure we've been under.
